The historical heart of Kyiv is often considered to be the city's oldest district, known as Podil. This area was historically the center of trade and commerce in Kyiv, and many of the city's most important historical buildings and landmarks can be found here. Podil is home to such iconic sites as St. Andrew's Church, the Andriyivskyy Descent, and the Contract Square.
